2,000 MT garbage

A senior corporation official said that the NTPC will be setting up an integrated waste management plant which will have a capacity to process 2,000 MT of garbage.

He added that the plant will have a waste to energy component to generate electricity as well as composting of waste to generate CNG. The official said while land for the project has not been allotted yet, it is expected to be completed in two-years time.

General manager of NTPC, Amit Kulshreshta said the plant will have the ability to use mixed waste and claimed that it will be odourless. EDMC Commissioner Dilraj Kaur said that solid waste management has become the biggest challenge for the corporation and the MoU was a progressive step towards addressing the issue.
