The parents of a 17-year-old who died in south Delhi’s Sainik Farms, on Sunday, have blamed their neighbours for not lending a helping hand even as she lay injured.
The Class XII girl died under mysterious circumstances early on Sunday. Her neighbours had called the police later to inform them about blood stains outside her house and the missing family.
“She lay on the street bleeding from her mouth and nose. Her father sought the help of neighbours who had emerged from their homes, but no one came forward. Instead, they went back inside their homes,” Prem Nath, DCP (South), told The Hindu . The family does not share good relations with their neighbours, police said.
Interrogation of the family so far suggests that the girl committed suicide. “Statements of each member corroborate with the others. Their only mistake was they did not inform the police and silently cremated the body. There is documented evidence that they cremated the body at a cremation ground near Agra,” said the DCP.
It has emerged that the girl was in a one-sided love affair with her school teacher who also gave tuitions to her. “For the past few days, she had been making almost 200 calls to him in a day, forcing him to change his phone number. But, that did not desist her,” said Dependra Pathak, Joint CP.
“The 30-year-old teacher contacted her parents on Saturday. and showed them the ‘I love you’ messages sent by the girl. Her parents slapped her in front of him,” said Mr. Pathak.
