A 24-year-old man was beaten to death in north-west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri in the small hours of Monday, the police said.

They have detained one person in connection with the case.

A senior officer said the victim has been identified as Gaurav, who was arrested in a murder case in 2016 and was out on bail.

The police said they received a PCR call at 2 a.m. from a woman stating that a man was being beaten by a group. “On reaching the spot, the police found the victim dead with a head injury. The body has been preserved for post-mortem,” the officer said.

Enquiry revealed that Gaurav and his friends had an argument with a rival group around 12 a.m. and it soon turned violent. The accused hit him with a brick and he died on the spot, the police said.

“Six accused have been identified and one of them has been detained,” the officer added.
