Workers of the Lok Janshakti Party staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday protesting against the police firing on farmers and labourers at Forbesganj in Bihar on June 3.

In a memorandum to the President, the party demanded an inquiry into the incident by a sitting High Court judge or by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

It also demanded that the Superintendent of Police and Special Police Officer present during the firing be suspended from the district so that a free and fair inquiry can be conducted. The other demands include compensation of Rs.20 lakh each for the dead and Rs.5 lakh for the injured, besides a government job for one member of each of the deceased family and ex-gratia payment by the Union Government.

The workers, who came from as far as Bihar and neighbouring States, were addressed by party president Ram Vilas Paswan and other leaders.
