Chennai:06/05/2010: Child labour in India is a grave and extensive problem. Children under the age of 14 are forced to work in selling eatables, firecrackers and so on. While the Govt. of India reports about 20 million children labourers, other non-governmental organizations estimate the number to be closer to 50 million. Child labour is seen as a form of economic security for families which are at the lower end of the socio-economic structure. In this picture, girls, selling books on G.N.Chetty Roadr in Chennai.
