Ashwin’s seven settles innings victory for India

After going wicketless in the first innings, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin snapped up seven in the second to dismiss West Indies for 231 in the second innings, handing India victory by an innings and 92 runs on the fourth day of the first Test.

While Ashwin was named man of the match for his all-round performance that included a century in the first innings, Indian skipper Virat Kohli reiterated that the current crop of players have the winning mentality and are eager to make it a habit going forward.

OLYMPICS

No blanket ban over Russia’s participation at the Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided not to ban Russia from the Rio Games, a decision that split opinions across the globe.

While the IOC stated that this would preserve the rights of clean athletes, many observers believe that it only creates further confusion, as individual sporting federations have been handed the responsibility to identify the eligibility of Russian athletes.

Monfils claims a title after 2 and half years

Staring at yet another defeat in a tournament final, Gael Monfils bounced back when Ivo Karlovic was serving for the match in the second set. He went on to claim his first title after 2 and half years, winning the Washington Open final 5-7, 7-6 (8/6), 6-4.
