Christmas is here and it’s time to deck the halls up for the season. Here are some Christmas must-haves and a look at some of the places you can pick them up from.

Oh Christmas tree…

Where to buy them: Connemara Market (Palayam), Garden City, Pothys, Style Plus

When it comes to Christmas decorations, the Christmas tree is king. It's the centrepiece, a focus of attention in any room. Coming in various sizes and varieties, retailers in the city are busy stocking up with the latest. Varieties of Christmas trees such as pine trees, deluxe trees (bushy tree), ordinary tree (less bushy and the leaves are a pale green), white trees and fibre optic trees are available. And they come in different sizes, ranging from four- to eight-feet tall trees. Those who want to spread some Christmas cheer in their office space can choose tiny pre-decked Christmas trees for their desk.

Bling it on

Where to buy them: Connemara Market (Palayam), Archies, Garden City, LMS Book Store, Pothys, Style Plus, St. Joseph’s Book Store, Saphalyam Complex, the stall at Salvation Army Campus, roadside vendors

But a Christmas tree looks bare sans the trinkets that adorn them. There are balls, bells, stars, bow ribbons and Santa Claus figurines, which come mostly in sets of six or 12. For those who like to ‘mix-and-match’, there are ‘assorted’ boxes. These ornaments come in various hues and colours. Palayam market gives you value for money with a large collection of trinket at prices that suit all pockets.

Twinkle, twinkle…

Lights to light up the Christmas tree come with various features. If some come in monochromatic colours, others change from one colour to another and yet others, light and dance to the tune of popular Christmas carols.

Putting a crib together is religiously followed by the faithful.
