The three-day State-level science exhibition for high schools students held recently at Shri Neelakanteshwar Vidyavardhak Society's Shri Gangadhar Swamiji Virakta Math Ayurvedic Medical College in the town, evoked good response from not only school and college going students but also from cross-sections of the society. The themes such as agriculture technology, green power and community health were ideal considering the rural-based venue of the event, which attracted members even from the farming community.

The exhibition was jointly organised by Belgaum Zilla Panchayat, District Administration, Department of Education and State Education Research and Training with the support of the host society/college. In all, 204 science-models from 34 education districts selected as “best” at district-level competitions were on display. At the end of the event, 35 teams were selected to compete at the South Zone-level exhibition to be held later this year.

Teams selected at this zonal level will be participating in the national level competitions. Some of the exhibits like ‘energy' from cow urine/dung and lemon evinced keen interest by visitors. A science-drama competition was also organised, which witnessed interesting fusion of science and performing art.
