A major part of upcoming film Server Sundaram , which stars Santhanam in the lead, will be shot in Australia. “The film is based on food, and there’s nothing better than shooting in Australia, where MasterChef originated,” says an excited Anand Balki, director of the film, “The climax will also be shot there.”
The tale of a catering student who makes it big on a global level, Server Sundaram , will be divided into four episodes – each lasting about 25 minutes. They will be shot in Goa, Thanjavur, Chennai and Australia.
Santhanam, says Anand, has taken naturally to the role of a chef. “He’s a one-take artiste and has got a passion towards cooking. Also, we have 10 real chefs on board to help us out while filming the sequences,” reveals the director.
Playing the second lead in the film is Nagesh Bijesh, late actor Nagesh’s grandson. “He wasn’t interested in films, but he immediately agreed because of the title {the 1964-film Server Sundaram is one of actor Nagesh’s most popular films}. He has the same famous tic that his grandfather used to have… it is a big plus for us having Bijesh as part of the cast.”
