She is one of the eight actors forming the star cast of director Ravinder Chandrasekhar’s I-Na . But, Anjena is excited about the work she has done in director Maamani’s Kaanagam . “Shooting for I-Na has not yet started, while Kaanagam has been completed. The concept behind the script of Kaanagam is unique and shooting for the film has been challenging. Many of the scenes are a mix of real-life sequences and computer-generated images, thanks to the vivid imagination of Maamani. For the scenes in the forest, I had to imagine the leopard and other wildlife and shoot against a plain background, which will be merged with CG images,” says Anjena who is currently shooting for a Telugu film, Vaasthavam with Abid Bushan as the hero, directed by Sathya Reddy.
Bold attempt
V ittil Poochigal is a documentary about the risks to their lives that fishermen along the Tamil Nadu coast face. It deals with the untold miseries of a Tamil fisherman at the hands of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. A bold attempt by a young director G. Venkatesh Kumar (who is also directing a feature film titled Neelam ), this documentary won the Best Documentary award at the Indo-Russian film festival held at the Russian Science & Cultural Centre, New Delhi, on June 21. “It’s a proud moment for every Tamil living around the world. I strongly believe that this documentary will bring about a major change in the lives of Tamil fishermen and I dedicate the award to them,” says Venkatesh.
Love from different angles
It is all about finding love. Director Keerthi Kumar’s debut effort, Oru Modhal Oru Kadhal, is a simple, romantic family entertainer. “There is adequate comedy too. OMOK is about a love triangle involving the characters played by R. Vivek ( Suryanagaram, Nanga ), Megha Burman ( DAM999 ) and Roopa Nataraj. The hero leaves his girlfriend behind in Chennai and travels to Bangalore and Delhi where he falls in love with another girl. During the course of his travels, he causes troubles to his friends and family, not to mention the heartbreaks his girlfriends go through,” says Keerthi Kumar. Dayanand Piraisudan has composed four songs to reflect different moods of the relationship. “One of the special features about the music is a full-length Tamil-Hindi song, sung by Shankar Mahadevan and ‘Sheela Ki Jawani’ fame Sunidhi Chauhan.”
