Even as Parliament — rocked by the Opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2G spectrum issue — adjourned sine die on Monday, Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda said his party would not support any BJP move to stall the House during the 2011 budget session.
“Enough is enough. We can't be a party to disruption of the House in the budget session,” he told journalists here.
At the same time, the former Prime Minister advised the UPA government to dissolve the Lok Sabha and go in for fresh elections if it was not able to run Parliament smoothly.
Criticising the BJP-led NDA, which ruled for six years, for favouring mid-term polls, Mr. Gowda said the party was adopting “double standards” — ignoring its own Chief Minister in Karnataka (B.S. Yeddyurappa) ‘involved' in a multi-crore land scam, while making a hue and cry in Parliament over the spectrum issue.
He alleged that the Karnataka scam was “bigger than 2G” and in the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project alone, land worth over Rs. 50,000 crore was allotted/denotified flouting all norms. The party would not rest until the guilty are punished, he said.
Mr. Gowda indicated that the former Chief Minister, S. Bangarappa, now with the Congress, might join the JD(S).
