A Palestinian died of wounds suffered a week ago during protests against Israel along the enclave's border, officials of the the country's Health Ministry said, It raised to 20 the death toll in confrontations with Israeli soldiers that began on March 30.
Hundreds of Palestinians have already arrived at the border area on April 6, for what is expected to be the largest demonstration since the first day when most of the fatalities occurred. Tens of thousands of Palestinians are holding a six-week-long protest in tent encampments along the fenced border of the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip, an enclave of 2 million ruled by the Islamist Hamas group.

BJP MPs protested outside Parliament House, blaming the Congress for the Parliament’s bad performance during the second half of the Budget session.
This session was washed out due to daily disruptions from various Opposition parties on issues such as the Nirav Modi-PNB case, constitution of the Cauvery Management Board and Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.
Zuma in court
Former South African President Jacob Zuma sat in the dock of a packed courtroom to face corruption charges in a long-running case that fueled the public anger that finally forced him from power.
Mr. Zuma, 75, appeared relaxed during the brief hearing during which the case was adjourned until June 8. He later emerged from the courthouse in the coastal city of Durban to address a large crowd of supporters, many sporting regalia of the ruling African National Congress party.
The charges are politically motivated, Mr. Zuma said.
The ruling party leadership had instructed Mr. Zuma to resign in February 2018 after a leadership crisis that destabilized the ANC, which was already weakened by other scandals during Mr. Zuma’s presidency. At the hearing, Judge Themba Sishi said Mr. Zuma was free “on warning.”
Nepal PM arrives in India
Nepal Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli arrived in India on Friday morning. THis is his first overseas visit after taking over as the country's PM.
Officials and experts say New Delhi should expect a tougher stand from Mr. Oli, who is armed with a massive election mandate, winning his confidence vote with a 4/5th majority, and has taken new administrative powers in the past few weeks.
Protest against IPL in Chepauk
Students and Tamil activists on Friday staged a demonstration outside the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on Friday. They were demanding the re-scheduling/postponing of the Indian Premier League matches in Chennai, till the Cauvery board is formed.
On Thursday, April, 5, 2018, Janithaneya Jananayaga Katchi MLA, Tamimun Ansari threatened to hold the players hostage if the match were to go ahead.
Supporters of Jacob Zuma march
Former South African president Jacob Zuma appeared in court on Friday to face corruption charges relating to a $2.5 billion arms deal, a scandal from the 1990s that has come back to haunt him within weeks of his fall from power.
Heavily armed police in riot gear lined the square outside the court, as thousands of Zuma supporters gathered to express solidarity with a leader they say is the victim of a politically motivated witchhunt.

Mr. Sivaprasad has been protesting, demanding the grant of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. From carrying earthen pots full of water into the Parliament to dressing up like a fisherman and a maulvi, the MP has done it all.
Fast over Cauvery issue in Tiruchi
After the ruling AIADMK's fast and the bandh by the DMK-led Opposition demanding the constitution of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB), it was the turn of the G.K. Vasan-led Tamil Maaanila Congress on Friday. Mr. Vasan along with farmer leaders observed a fast on the issue near the 'Uzhavar Santhai' area in Tiruchi.
BJP Parliamentary meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with BJP workers of five Lok Sabha seats and with the presidents of the party’s 734 district units on Friday on the occasion of its 38th foundation day. The five Lok Sabha constituencies chosen are New Delhi, North East Delhi, Hamirpur in in Himachal Pradesh, North Central Mumbai and Saran in Bihar. Their MPs are Meenakshi Lekhi, Manoj Tiwari, Anurag Thakur, Poonam Mahajan and Rajiv Pratap Rudy respectively.
Chandrababu Naidu participates in bicycle rally
As part of the State-wide stir for the awarding of special status to Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday participated in a bicycle rally.
He called upon the TDP MPs to intensify their protests against the denial of Special Category Status (SCS) on the last day of the Parliament session and asserted that attempts by the Central government to weaken Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) would not succeed as the people realised it's true intentions.
Nikkei goes choppy after U.S-China trade dispute
Japanese stocks were choppy on Friday morning as the perceived safe-haven yen rose after U.S. President Donald Trump warned of further tariffs on China as the simmering trade dispute between the two nations kept investors on edge.
The Nikkei share average edged up 0.1 percent to 21,677.72 in midmorning trade, after trading in and out of the black in early deals.
For the week, the index has gained 0.8 percent so far.

Sanjita Chanu lands India a second gold medal at the CWG
Sanjita Chanu landed India its second gold medal at the XXI Commonwealth Games, winning the top spot in the women’s 53kg category of the weightlifting competitions at the Carrara Sports Arena 1 in Gold Coast on Friday.
In a field of 14, the 24-year-old from Manipur finished with a total of 192kg, ten kilograms clear of second placed Loa Dika Toua (Papua New Guinea) while Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet (Canada) clinched the bronze with 181kg.
