Telangana Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan has said his government was determined to make Hyderabad the 'most liveable cities of the World' on par with cities such as Melbourne, Vienna, Vancouver and Toronto.

In the address to the joint session of the Telangana Legislature on Wednesday, Mr. Narasimhan said: “My government would like to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city with a distinct brand image. We will strive to make Hyderabad a slum-free urban conglomerate by establishing planned satellite townships as per their specific master plans, which will accommodate those poorer sections and migrants, who come in search of a better future to the City of fortune.”

Listing out the steps, he said, cleaning and protection of Musi River and other water bodies of the Twin Cities will be taken up. In addition, basic requirements such as piped drinking water, underground drainage systems and storm water sullage systems, scientific collection and clearance of garbage would ensure control of pollution and maintenance of sanitation to a Clean-Green-Pollution free Hyderabad. To attract the international traveller, the governor said facilities like express ways, Rapid Mass Transport System and domestic airports would be established.

Mr. Narasimhan said his vision for Hyderabad was a city of stability, good health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. In order to make Hyderabad a safe zone and an attractive investment destination, law and order would be the top priority of the government. “There would be constant surveillance with a network of CC cameras and other advances gadgets covering entire urban agglomeration to make it a safe city on the lines of London and New York. “Any offence detrimental to the interests of the State, would be dealt with an iron-hand,” he said
