TN to have eBiz portal soon

September 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 28, 2016 05:02 pm IST - Chennai:

The curtains may have come down for the Global Investors Meet 2015 but for the officials in the Industries Department work has just started.

It is working on a portal similar to the eBiz portal which was started by the Central government to apply and manage all licenses, clearances, registrations and regulatory filing.

“It is a work-in-progress and should be ready in the next six months. We are studying on how to implement it and what should be included in it. There are two probabilities – One, to link this with eBiz or to have this as a separate state specific portal,” sources said.

This new link will also help track the status of all the applications with a unique PIN number and one can obtain electronic copies of all the clearance letters and the approved licenses.

Currently, departments including Pollution Control Board, Small Scale Industries have gone online.

e-signatures

The Commercial Taxes department is waiting for some amendments like how to implement e-signatures.

“Once the e-signature plan is implemented industrialists and entrepreneurs will find it easy and informative to obtain all information online,” a senior official said.

Four nodal officers

In its task to ensure the Rs 2.42 lakh crore finalised at the GIM fructifies and converts into reality, the government has got four nodal officers to work on all the documentation and clearance work.

“Four such officers have been working on this for the last six months and they would continue to do it till all projects are implemented. The SIPCOT MD is also involved in this assignment,” a source said.

During her valedictory speech at the Global Investors Meet 2015, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said that her government has nominated senior Indian Administrative Service officers of the State government as facilitators for each of the projects and they will be responsible for liaising with the investor, for all the relevant Government departments to ensure that all the clearances are granted within 30 days.
