A day-long music concert will be held on Saturday at Sri Kollur Mookambika Temple to mark the 75th birthday of singer K.J. Yesudas.

Musicians from the State and outside will participate in the day-long ‘sangeetharchana’ led by musician Kanhangad Ramachandran at the Saraswathi Mandapam of the temple.

Yesudas, accompanied by his son Vijay, will sing hymns and bhajans at the temple, where the legendary singer ensures his presence on his birthdays to seek the blessing of the presiding deity over the past several decades.

The function will see Yesudas presenting the maiden ‘Souparnikamrutham Sangeetha Puraskaram’ instituted by the Sri Mookambika Sangeetharadhana Samiti to classical musician Kumara Kerala Varma, Mr. Ramachandran said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

V.V. Prabhkaran, convener of the samiti, attended the meeting.
