Rich tributes were paid to doyen of advertising A.G. Krishnamurthy (AGK) at two separate condolence meetings held at Bapatla and Guntur.
P.C. Sai Babu, secretary, Forum for Better Bapatla, said AGK had a humble beginning and had spent most of his childhood in the town. After his family moved to Bapatla in 1953, Krishnamurthy was admitted to Bapatla Board School for the Fourth Form and completed school final in the year 1956.
He started his career as a stenographer at the Bapatla Sub Court and later shifted to Guntur.
Even after he had reached the pinnacle of success in advertisement industry, Krishnamurthy never forgot his roots and donated money to set up a statue of great poet Rayaprolu Subba Rao, in the school where he studied.
Guntur District Advertising Agencies Association also paid rich tributes to A.G. Krishnamurthy.
At a meeting presided over by Kamatham Sambasiva Rao, proprietor of Kalyani Ads, Santhi Arts propeitor P.M. Jain said it was a matter of great pride that AGK had his roots in Guntur district and went on to become the pioneer of advertising industry in the country.
Mr. Sambasiva Rao said AGK was born at Vinukonda and graduated from Andhra University.
He joined as an assistant to Geeraben Sarabai in a textile company and was later posted as advertisement manager at Reliance Industries.
In 1980, he established Mudra Communications and expanded it to metro cities in the country.
AGK founded Mudra Institute of Communications in Ahmedabad in the year 1991 and helped it grow into the premier academic institution in advertisement and public relations.
Associations recall the time he spent in Bapatla and Guntur
