A well-planned ‘Girijan Utsav’, a festival of tribal people living in hill forests, is considered as the best proposition to bring together the different tribes and keep alive their traditions at Penchalakona hill region in Nellore district.
Considering the historical significance of Penusila Narasimha Swamy Temple and the legend surrounding it, the officials have positively responded to the appeals of the people’s representatives regarding the Girijan Festival. Besides, development of a Girijan Bhavan, a separate development authority for each district and effective implementation of Antyodaya Anna Yojana were discussed at a meeting on the Tribal Welfare Development activities here on Wednesday. Tribal Welfare Director M. Padma presided over the meeting and District Collector M. Janaki was present.
It is proposed to train the tribal youth in driving and provide financial assistance for them to buy autorickshaws.
Their services may be availed in times of snakebite and such emergencies.
Tribal Development Authority project officer Y. Venkateswarlu said that 25 tribal youths have been trained in driving skills with the help of the Krishnapatnam Port.
