The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has temporarily suspended bifurcation of ration cards, issue of new cards and inclusion of names till December 2015.
Other works continue
However, other works such as seeding of Aadhaar numbers with the bank accounts, deletion of names and change of address and surrender of ration cards would continue as usual, according to a press release.
The Department has asked all the red ration card holders to produce their Aadhaar numbers at nationalised banks to avail the cash subsidy under the Food Security Act.
