Countering the criticism of Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on land acquisition for a Greenfield airport at Bhogapuram, Panchayat Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said the land for the airport was identified based on a technical report by RITES. He expressed readiness to give land of a resort in the vicinity of the proposed airport if the technical report suggested it.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the airport was planned keeping the growth of Visakhapatnam up to 2040 in view. An Airports Authority report in 2013 said expansion of the present airport would cause hardship to people.
Mr Ayyanna Patrudu, who was made Polit Bureau member for the second time, was felicitated by party leaders and workers.
