The Kochi city police on Saturday arrested two persons on charge of stealing women’s handbags.

The arrested have been identified as Subash alias Albi of Kadavanthra and Siji of Paravur. The accused used to attend various functions taking place in and around the city and steal the vanity bags of unsuspecting women.

“They were regulars at churches, temples and marriage halls, sneak into woman’s groups and make away with their bags containing mobile phones, cash and gold ornaments. Upon stealing the bag, they would flee the scene and abandon the bags after taking out the valuables’’, officials said.
