KCR condoles Makkah deaths, to help all T.S. pilgrim victims

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao condoled the death of Haj pilgrims in a stampede in Makkah on Thursday and directed the Telangana Government officials to get in touch with Indian consulate to check for any victims from Telangana.

Soon after knowing about the tragic incident, Mr. Rao directed the Minority Welfare Secretary Omer Jaleel to contact the Indian Consulate in Jeddah and gather information about the well being of the Haj pilgrims from the State.

Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the Minority Welfare affairs officials were trying to reach the Indian Consulate officials in Jeddah. The Government also alerted the Khadimul Hujjaj (Haj volunteers) accompanying the pilgrims to get information about the victims, if any.

Telangana Haj Committee special office M.A.Shukoor told The Hindu that they had already contacted the Indian Consulate in Jeddah to get update on the Mecca tragedy. “In all 5,481 Haj pilgrims from Telangana had gone to Mecca in different batches,” he said.
