Few Hyderabadis give it a miss except those living abroad. Now even they need not nurse the feeling of deprivation. The annual ‘Numaish' can now be watched live. Hyderabadis wherever they are can get a ‘dekho' of their favourite event from day one.
Keeping pace with technology, the Exhibition Society has decided to webcast the 46-day event for the benefit of those who can't come personally to see it. Two cameras are being erected at a high altitude to pan the stalls and visitors at the exhibition for live telecast through internet.
Again for the first time the Society has taken the help of Geographical Information System (GIS) to plan the layout of stalls in a scientific manner. This has resulted in creation of more space and orderly erection of the 2,400 stalls.
For a change, visitors will not be at sea navigating the 20 acre ground. GIS generated maps will tell them ‘you are here' and indicate direction.
In preparing for the 72 All India Industrial Exhibition, the Society has put itself in the visitors' shoes to rise to their expectations. Naturally the first impression on entering the sprawling numaish ground will be one of more elbow room. One can breath in easy even at the ticket counters which are usually crowded.
D. Gangadhar Rao, honorary secretary, Exhibition Society, is the man behind these changes. He has overruled the demand to double the entry ticket. It will continue to be Rs. 10 from Monday to Friday and Rs. 20 on weekends and holidays.
Dr. Rao has also ensured that the Hyderabadi ‘tehzeeb' of having an exclusive ladies day is continued. The stall owners want it to be dispensed with as they think it affects their business. January 10 is reserved for women and January 31 for children.
A three tier security is planned to ensure hassle free entertainment to visitors. The Society is engaging 100 trained security personnel, including 20 women. Besides 20 door frame metal detectors and 35 hand-held metal detectors are being installed to frisk visitors.
Besides 25 CCTV cameras, 120 volunteers, 60 watch and ward staff and a dog squad will keep round-the- clock vigil.
Visitors will be surprised to find more electronic gadgets, computer and IT related products on display. Though it is an eagerly awaited event, the Society plans to promote brand numaish through TV ads and 20 hoardings at city's entry points.
So guys brace up for biggest and cheapest entertainment ever.
