A 43-year-old property dealer was shot at by two men at his office in Krishna Nagar, East Delhi, on Sunday afternoon.

While the attack has been captured in a closed circuit television camera (CCTV) installed at the victim’s office located on Old Police Station Road, no suspects have been identified or arrested so far.

According to police, the victim identified as Sanjay Mehta received one bullet injury in his abdomen and is admitted to a private hospital in Patparganj where his condition is said to be serious.

The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. when Mr. Mehta was sitting inside his office. “Two men wearing helmets arrived on a motorcycle outside his office. One person went inside, while the other waited on the motorcycle. The one who went inside was asked by Mr. Mehta to take off his helmet. The assailant instead took out a pistol and fired towards the victim. The bullet hit him in the abdomen.” said a police officer.

When Mr. Mehta screamed for help after being hit, some locals rushed to his help and gave a call to the police. His attacker, meanwhile, escaped from the office and fled the place.

Mr. Mehta was rushed to a hospital and a case of attempt to murder against unknown persons was registered at the police station in Krishna Nagar. The police said they suspect business or personal rivalry to be the reason behind the attack.

Mr. Mehta’s family and friends are being questioned about his possible enmity with anyone. The police said they are scanning the CCTV footage.
