40-year-old driver found dead in car

A 40-year-old man was found dead in his car in east Delhi’s Anand Vihar on Tuesday night, the police said. The police took the man to Dr. Hedgewar Hospital where he was declared brought dead after which his body was sent to Sabzi Mandi mortuary for post mortem. The body was later handed over to his family for last rites.

Slept in car

According to the police, the man, who has been identified as Shekhar alias Nanu, resident of Karkardooma village, had driven a radio taxi in the Capital for over 10 years and often slept in the car after work.

‘Drank often’

The police said he may have died due to suffocation. “He consumed alcohol on a regular basis. There are no injury marks on his body. Prima facie, it looks like he died of suffocation,” said a senior police official. The victim is learnt to have been abandoned by his wife 20 years ago and was living near his relatives in the village. His parents reside in Uttarakhand, said the police.
