Coup in Goa ?

The Ochre Studios' production, Goa, directed by Venkat Prabhu, managed a coup of sorts by bringing together a unique quintet — Karthik Raja, Bhavatharani, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Premgi and Venkat himself, under the baton of Yuvan, for a song. Says Venkat Prabhu: “I conceived of this song, the opening number in Goa , as a tribute to the elders in our family — Pavalar Varadarajan, R D Bhaskar, Ilaiyaraaja and Gangai Amaren — and our native place, Theni, where we shot the song sequence.”

Wishing star

Birthday boy Aarya had co-star Nayanthara and the entire crew of Boss (a) Bhaskaran for company on his birthday. What did he wish for on his special day? “My birthday wish is that I should never grow old,” quips Aarya, currently shooting in Kumbakonam. Now, isn't that something all stars would wish for?

Enlightened don

Two powerful characters — a rural don in his autumn years (Sathyaraj) and his reformer (Shanthanoo Bhagyaraj) — and the clash of their ideals form the theme of Aayiram Vilakku . Says Director Sp. Hosimin: “The story takes place in Madurai. There is a grand play of emotions between the old don trying to deal with his past and how he responds to the reformative schemes of the youngster. This is a commercial entertainer, but we have strived to lend it international quality.”

Sana Khan plays Shantanoo's love interest. This is Shanthanoo's third Tamil film after Chakkarakatti and Siddhu Plus 2 .

Amma Paasam

From a rustic, lungi-clad look, Aadhi has transformed into a stylish urban youth, and an angry one at that, for his sentiment-filled role in producer P L Thenappan's Ayyanar , directed by Rajamithran. Playing Aadhi's love interest is Meera Nandan.Says Rajamithran: “The story is about the excessive love between a mother and son.” Anupama Kumar ( Pokkisham ) plays the powerful mother character. Says Aadhi: “While in Mirugam, I played a loud character, in Eeram , it was subtle. In , it is a mix of both. In the flashback sequences, I play an irresponsible youth. But, otherwise, my character is very responsible. As for my mother's character, she is the only one who supports me when everyone else has written me off.”

Reality cop

His Anandapurathu Veedu for S Films is awaiting release, and Nandaa is looking forward to shooting for AGS Entertainment's Vellore Mavattam, in which he plays an IPS officer. “I am going to the National Police Academy in Hyderabad, headed by K. Vijayakumar, for a month's training,” says Nandaa. “After Eeram , my career graph is on an upward trajectory. I want to do different characters to prove to my audience that I am serious about meaningful cinema,” says Nandaa, who pairs up with Poorna in Vellore Mavattam .
