The Acharya Nagarjuna University Private Colleges Managements Association on Monday decided against getting affiliated to the Krishna University . They would continue to remain with the Acharya Nagarjuna University, they said at a meeting of the ANUPCMA unit in Krishna district. The colleges demanded that the Government permit them to remain with the ANU till a full-fledged infrastructure, with at least a 100-member faculty and own lands and buildings, was acquired by the KU in Machilipatnam.
N. Narsi Reddy, director of Vikas Colleges, Vissannapet, said association members had decided to oppose pressure from any quarter in this regard. They would meet the universities' Chancellor, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, and submit a memorandum to him on the issue.
ANUPCMA president B. Suryanaryana, general secretary A. Vijay Kumar Reddy and honorary adviser Lakkineni Prasad participated in the meeting.
Mr. Narsi Reddy said the ANUPCMA members were worried, as there was “confusion” over the allotment of land to the KU. Former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's idea of promoting a district university with infrastructure was neglected, as the 200 acres of land on which he laid a foundation stone was found to be out of the reach of KU.
Mr. Narsi Reddy said that with regard to the present leased premises of the AJ College, the KU was facing problems because of the formation of AJ College Parirakshana Samithi, which got the lease stayed by the High Court.
