Shaji chooses Jayaram

Even while auteur Shaji N. Karun’s much-awaited magnum opus Gaadha is in the making, the filmmaker revealed that he was in the midst of discussions to make a film with Jayaram in the lead. “Jayaram, the actor, is not being seen these days. He told me that he is keen on working in a film with me and so we have been planning a film for some time. While the music for Gaadha is being composed, I am planning to make the film with Jayaram in which he plays the role of a chenda player. We might begin shooting once the discussions on the script are finished,” says Shaji. Now, that should certainly be a familiar beat for Jayaram, a trained percussion artiste.

Off to tinsel town

Shabu Anthikad, Shibu Anthikad and Deepu Anthikad, a powerhouse in the ad industry, have been nurturing celluloid dreams. And Deepu has set the ball rolling with Lucky Star, which has Jayaram in the lead. “The movie’s tagline goes, ‘Seriously humorous’. It is about surrogacy, but is treated in a light-hearted way,” says Deepu, who has written the story, screenplay and one song. Rachana Narayanankutty, who acts in the comedy show ‘Marimayam’ and anchors ‘Comedy Festival’ (both on Mazhavil Manorama), is one of the female leads. The other actor hasn’t been finalised yet. Music is by Ratheesh Vega. The movie is produced by Milan Jaleel. Meanwhile, Deepu asserts that ads remain his first priority. “Once I finish the movie, I’d go back to ads and then Shibu would be ready with his debut movie. After all, the ad industry is our bread and butter,” he signs off. The trio, nephews of director Sathyan Anthikad, made news with their television ads for Joy Alukkas, featuring Madhavan, Adah Sharma and Shreya Ghoshal, and Jos Alukkas ad with Vijay under their banner, Images AdFilms.
