Luck by chance

Lal Jose plans to begin work on his ‘Cousins,' starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj, early 2011. Looks like another interesting work from this director whose latest film, ‘Elsammaenna Aankutty,' reaches theatres next week. The music for the movie has been directed by Rajamony. “I have always wanted to work with Rajamony ettan ; I am in films because of him. He is the one who introduced me to Kamal sir during the re-recording of ‘Peruvannapurathe Veshangal.' In those days, I was staying in Chennai to learn manual colour processing,” recalls Lal. Lucky encounter indeed.

Thriller on the anvil

B. Unnikrishan's ‘Thriller' is likely to reach cinemas by the last week of October. The dubbing is on for the Prithiviraj starrer that has been scripted and directed by Unnikrishnan who is back on familiar ground after making his mark writing and directing taut investigative stories.

Game for more

Music director Alphons Joseph, who hit a high with his song ‘Aaromalle' for Gautham Menon's ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya,' is scoring three songs for Shymaprasad's film ‘Elektra.' In addition to Sayonara and Gayathri, Alphons is also singing one of the songs, the lyrics of which have been written by Shelton Pinheiro and Seetha. Alphons seems to have hit the right track as a singer and composer. He has also sung one of the songs for the newly released ‘Atmakatha.' In addition, Alphons proudly adds that he scored the theme song that was played at all official functions in Kerala to receive the baton of the Commonwealth Games. It was sung by Shankar Mahadevan.

City blues

Madhu Kaithapram's ‘Orma Matram' goes on the floor in October. Scripted by C.V. Balakrishnan, the Dileep-starrer has Priyanka playing the female lead. “It is a story of how a nuclear family survives a crisis in a big city and its aftermath,” says the scenarist. After Mahdu's award-winning ‘Madhyavenal,' this film is bound to evoke a lot of interest among cine buffs.
