Hanover said on Friday they have completed the signing of Latvian forward Artjoms Rudnevs from Bundesliga rivals SV Hamburg, on loan until the end of the season.
Hanover completed the deal after the 25-year-old passed a medical at their winter break training camp in Turkey. They also have an option to get Rudnevs, who was rarely fielded by Hamburg in the first half of the season, on a full transfer next season.
“We now have more options up front and get a player who has proven that he is dangerous in front of the goal,” Hanover sports director Dirk Dufner said in a statement.
Hanover lie one place ahead of Hamburg in 13th and hope for improvement when the league resumes two weeks. They have a new coach in Korkut Tayfun after Mirko Slomka was sacked.
