Deflecting criticism from opposition parties that she was not even visiting her constituency, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday told residents of Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar that they have a special place in her heart.
Inaugurating works worth Rs. 180.41 crore and laying the foundation stone for projects worth Rs.193.26 crore in the constituency, Ms. Jayalalithaa said she was delighted to see thousands of people, including women and children, lining up the roads.
“I will never forget R.K.Nagar constituency in my lifetime. The people of the constituency are etched in my heart forever for electing me to the Assembly and making me the Chief Minister,” she said.
In the past five years, the government had been implementing schemes for the welfare of the people, focussing on primary, manufacturing and service sectors, she said. Many schemes had been implemented to improve the livelihood of the poor, she said.
The hour-long event served as an indicator that she was ready to campaign for the Assembly elections.
