Four persons arrested, stolen property recovered

Police have arrested four persons involved in theft cases and recovered property, including two idols, totally worth ₹10 lakh.

According to a release, a team of police personnel was conducting a vehicle check near the SR Gate at Arakkonam on Thursday night when they intercepted two men travelling on a two-wheeler. They two were identified as Dinesh of Melandurai and Viji alias Vijayakumar of Nagavedu Colony.

During inquiry, the two confessed that they were involved in a number of theft cases, including two house break-ins . They had also attempted to rob an ATM at Kumpinipettai and stolen two idols from a temple in Sampathrayanpettai in Nemili police station limit. They were also involved in a chain-snatching case.

Following their confession, the police arrested the duo. They led the police to two of their accomplices — Ajith Kumar of Melpakkam and Seenu of Melkalathur.
