Fisherman shot dead

A fisherman hailing from Inaimputhanthurai in Kanyakumari district was shot dead by sea pirates of Iran in Bahrain sea on early Thursday morning.

Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan told The Hindu that the deceased was A. Antony Arul Anish (21). He was shot dead while indulging in fishing in a boat for an employer based at Qatar along with four other fishermen in Bahrain sea.

The body was rescued by the Bahrain Navy.

Four other fishermen from Kanyakumari district who had gone with the deceased escaped luckily, Mr. Chavan said.
