A demonstration on the use of anti-shock garment for use by pregnant women was conducted at a function held at the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Government Headquarters Hospital here on Thursday.

D. Parimala Devi, Dean of the Government Medical College, Pudukottai, explained the advantages of the garment for use during the post partum haemorrhage management. She pointed out that in a few cases, pregnant women would suffer from post partum haemorrhage at the time of delivery at the labour ward. “It is a critical situation which needs to be managed immediately to prevent irreversible shock,” she said. She also explained the method to maintain it properly. The state government ensured its availability at all government hospitals including the primary health centres besides the 108 Ambulances. She explained the procedure in using the garment.

She gave away garments to Hyrunisha, gynaecologist, Ranee Government Hospital.
