Buoyed by its success in the recent by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party on Wednesday exhorted its workers to defeat the designs of “communal forces” and garner support on the strength of the “State government’s achievements.”
The political and economic resolution tabled on the opening day of the party’s three-day national meet noted that the “communal forces have become active again after their defeat in the recent by-elections and are trying to divert people’s attention from the State’s welfare schemes through rumours and social media.” The resolution said the ‘BJP’s bubble had burst’ within four months of the Lok Sabha elections. By supporting the SP in the by-elections, the people had indicated that the future belonged to “samajwadis.”
The 16-page resolution was tabled by national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.
Lauding Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his government for fulfilling 90 per cent of the promises made to the people in the election manifesto, the resolution said the government would not rest till the needs of the deprived, poor and the minorities were fulfilled.
