As a mark of respect to Union Minister Gopinath Munde who was killed in a car accident in New Delhi on Tuesday, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in the national capital, capitals of states and union territories, it was announced.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) tweeted the national flag will also fly at half-mast on the day of the rural development minister’s funeral at the place of funeral. “As a mark of respect to Gopinath Munde, government has decided that the national flag will be flown at half mast today (Tuesday) in Delhi and capitals of states and UTs (union territories),” said a PIB tweet.

Another tweet said: “As a mark of respect to Gopinath Munde, the national flag will be flown at half mast on the day of funeral at the place of funeral of Munde.”

It added the home ministry is making arrangements to take the mortal remains of Mr. Munde to his native place for the last rites.

“A state funeral will be held at the native place of Gopinath Munde tomorrow (Wednesday),” a PIB tweet stated.
