Carcass of wild tusker found

The carcass of a wild tusker was found in a private land at Amarakkuni, near Pulpally, on the border of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and the South Wayanad Forest Division on Saturday morning.

P. Ranjith, Forest Range Officer ,Chethalayath Forest Range, said that the tusker was around 15 years old. The exact reason for death could be ascertained only after a chemical analysis of the carcass, he said.

The Forest Department has registered a case in connection with the unnatural death of the tusker.
