Get ready for a stunning spectacular aerial view of Malpe beach, St. Mary’s island with breathtaking and picturesque glimpses of Udupi and Manipal as Chipsan Aviation has introduced a helicopter joyride covering these places.

A press release issued by Sudesh Shetty, promoter of the helicopter ride, said that the helicopter had a seating capacity of six with a fare of Rs. 3,000 per head. It will be a 10-minute ride.

Many tourist spots looked more beautiful on an aerial view from the helicopter. The idea behind the helicopter joyride was to provide an enthralling experience to the tourists and to boost the tourism potential in Udupi district.

Spot booking for helicopter ride is available at the NCC Ground, Adiudupi, here between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 20 and February 21. For details, call: 9742507270.

Mr. Shetty told The Hindu that there was good response for the ride. Already three joyrides had been booked for Saturday and 20 for Sunday over the telephone. The number was expected to go as spot booking facility was being provided for both these days.

There were enquiries from people from Hassan, Tirthahalli, Mangaluru, Udupi, Manipal and Kundapur. “But the important requirement is we need six passengers per joyride,” he said. There were also many enquiries from people in Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu and Kerala for spiritual tourism. They enquired if there was a spiritual tourism package to places such as Kollur, Dharmasthala, Sringeri, Kukke Subrahmanya.

“Since our helicopter tourism service is on a trial run for two weeks, we are yet to work out the prices for these places, the waiting charges, landing places at these pilgrim spots and getting permission from district administrations,” he said.

Besides this, some people from Bhatkal had enquired about helicopter service from Bhatkal to Bajpe airport. Some people who had their relatives working in the Middle East had asked for helicopter facility to get them from Bajpe airport to Udupi, Mr. Shetty said.
