The city known as a yoga hub is set to tap the growing popularity of this ancient Indian discipline to promote tourism.
For, an International Yoga Festival will be held in the city from September 11to 13 in which at least 100 international yoga experts will participate besides practitioners of this discipline from across India.
The yoga festival will be conducted by the Mysuru Yogic Science Centre in association with the University of Mysore with the objective of harnessing the full potential of yoga and promote Mysuru as the capital of yoga. K.S. Nagapathi, a tourism expert said the city was yet to harness the full potential of yoga given its growing popularity all over the world.
The Yoga Festival, the first of its kind, will not only bring all experts under one forum, but will discuss ways to promote Mysuru internationally. A spinoff benefit of this festival will be a significant increase in the number of international students visiting Mysuru to learn yoga which will have a cascading impact on tourism sector as well.
