Four youths were sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday for gang-raping a girl in Kamathana village of Bidar taluk.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Hanchate Sanjiv Kumar also asked the four men — Mohammad Sayeed (22), M. Tajoddin (23), M. Yusuf (22) and M. Firoz (22) — to pay a total fine of Rs. 24,500.

Bidar rural police had filed a charge-sheet accusing the men of blackmailing an acquaintance, Shivu, and raping his girlfriend. They had invited the duo to a friend’s farm in Kamathana village in August 2014 and raped the girl after assaulting Shivu. They had also robbed them of their clothes, ATM cards and jewellery.
