A vast extent of vegetation in Baluru State Forest and adjoining deemed forest areas near Mudigere was damaged due to forest fire on Wednesday evening.
Thick flames were noticed near Malaya Maruta Guest House in Charmadi Ghat in the evening. Mudigere Range Forest officials rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
According to the department staff, the fire damaged the grassland.
