The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti has expressed displeasure over the alleged derogatory remarks against B.R. Ambedkar passed by S.N. Balagangadhar, professor of philosophy, during a conference at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in Hyderabad, recently.
M. Gurumurthy, convener of the samiti, told presspersons here on Friday that members of the samiti would stage a protest demanding the government file a police complaint against Mr. Balagangadhar for insulting Ambedkar.
It was alleged that Mr. Balagangadhar, a professor at Ghent University, Belgium, and associated with the Centre for Study of Local Cultures of Kuvempu University, had called Ambedkar a fool and an idiot during the conference. He had also said that the teaching faculty appointed at EFLU on the basis of reservation system were incompetent.Further in his personal blog, Mr. Balagangadhar had mocked at the intellectual skills of Ambedkar. He had passed some objectionable remarks against Kannada scholar M.M. Kalburgi too in his blog and had called him an intolerant, Mr. Gurumurthy said.
