A direct dialogue with industrial houses organised through the Bureau of Industrial Promotion (BIP) here earlier this week laid emphasis on expansion schemes and explored the opportunities for employment generation in Rajasthan's industrial sector. Representatives of several industries also spelt out their plans to establish new units in different regions.

Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Subodh Agarwal said the State government had already enacted new legislation for the industrial sector, while the procedures had been simplified for promoting investments. The process for addressing grievances of industrial units had also been speeded up, he said.

Representatives of about half-a-dozen industrial associations took part in the dialogue held at Udyog Bhawan here. All of them spoke about the issues involved in their expansion plans and sought the State government's assistance in widening the scope of their operations.

According to the presentations of industrial houses, a new chemical fertiliser plant, an integrated steel plant, a packaging plant and a cashew nut processing plant will come up shortly in the State.
