Dabholkar murder: family seeks probe by special CBI team

Published - July 16, 2015 02:17 am IST - Mumbai:

The family of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar, who was shot dead in 2014, by motorcycle bound youths in Pune, have moved the Bombay High Court seeking a special investigation team of the CBI to probe the case.

Although the probe was transferred to the CBI there has been no progress so far. The petition filed by daughter Mukta Dabholkar and son Hamid Dabholkar of the late Dabholkar.

HC intervention sought

The petition seeks “intervention of the High Court in the investigation and constitution of Special Investigating Team of the C.B.I. and monitoring of investigation by the High Court. Since the murder is close to two years, the petition is filed since there is no progress,” a statement from the Dabholkar family said.

“Apart from the delay, supervision of the court is necessary. Some responsibility needs to be fixed with the investigating agency. We also realised later that the officer looking after the case was transferred in March, but continues to handle the case,” Ms. Dabholkar told The Hindu .
