Reliance Power, Reliance Communications, Reliance Capital and Reliance Infrastructure of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, in separate filings to stock exchanges on Monday, clarified that none of its offices was searched or raided by the police in connection with the theft of classified documents from the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
“The workstation of only one specific Reliance Power employee was searched and no incriminating material of any kind was found,” the statement said.
“We are not aware of the circumstances leading to the arrest of that employee, and Reliance Power is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
“We are committed to propriety in all our business dealings, and do not support unlawful activities of any nature and this clarification is issued in the interest of millions of our investors,” the statement said.
The arrest and detention of more people in the case has caused concern among companies allegedly involved in accessing classified documents from the economic ministries, but they tried to put on a brave face by claiming that the top management was not aware of any wrongdoings of junior officials arrested by the police. Shares of Reliance Group companies closed with losses on Monday.
