On Saturday afternoon 40 people - 20 visually-challenged and 20 blindfolded sighted persons - will together walk along a challenging stretch of road in the heart of the city to emphasise the need for inclusive pedestrian infrastructure. With this, Exnora International is reviving its 'Flatform' campaign, which looks at making footpaths inclusive, walkable as well as green.
"We are resuming ‘Flatform’ after The Hindu launched the ‘Right to Walk’ campaign. People who use the platform the most must also have a say in designing it," said M.B. Nirmal, Founder, Exnora International. Mr. Nirmal said that Saturday’s event where Youth Exnora headquarters members will participate is the first in a series of events being planned as part of the revival. The walk will take place at 3.30 p.m. at Chakrapani Street, West Mambalam.
