A Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) tanker was caught on video dumping raw sewage into a stormwater drain near Hosmat Hospital on Wednesday evening.

The tanker staff had picked up the sewage from another location nearby.

Lakshmikantha M., a research assistant with Namma Bengaluru Foundation, tweeted the video in which the person in-charge of the tanker is heard saying this was a regular practice.

N.R. Suresh, convenor, United Bengaluru, said in a statement that the National Green Tribunal had ordered imposition of a penalty of ₹5 lakh on anyone dumping sewage, garbage or debris into drains, but it was shocking to see BWSSB itself polluting drains.

Kemparamaiah, engineer-in-chief, BWSSB said that he will immediately initiate action against the staff of the tanker and related officials.
