The Hyderabad police have taken into custody about 50 Bajrang Dal activists from different parts of the twin cities since Saturday morning for burning effigies on the occasion of Valentine's Day.

There have been instances where some of the activists had burnt greeting cards although there are no reports of any 'couples' being harassed by them thus far.

The police are maintaining a tight vigil at several public places and main thoroughfares to swing into action in case of any trouble.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy and Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand have already warned against forcibly marrying off couples during the day or harassment of couples celebrating Valentine's day.
