If anybody were to ask a friend as to what’s on, the answer sans doubt will be S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali’. The single screens and the multiplexes, roughly 1,400 of them across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States were houseful. Despite that ticket hopefuls could be seen hanging outside the cinema halls.

The dozen-odd benefit shows organised by some individuals and organisations with a social responsibility factor in mind, across the two States, did serve their purpose because tickets were sold out. At different times - since 1 a.m., 3 a.m., and 6.30 a.m. on Friday, benefit shows were on in the twin cities, in Bhimavaram, Tirupati, Warangal and a few other places.

Without going into aspects as to how much did people like the blockbuster, it suffices to say that it was the mother of all visual treats in every which way it can be looked. The pre-release hype seemed to be on as much, even after the film hit the screens and the crowds outside theatres were no less than they were, on Thursday.

At the busy RTC Crossroads, that is a well-known hub for theatres, the police deployed tow-away vehicles to remove people parking vehicles in a haphazard manner, but still throughout the morning and noon, traffic snarls were seen. Groups of fans, primarily of actor Prabhas were seen celebrating, expressing their happiness that a film for which they had waited almost two and a half years had at last hit the screens.
