Employees under the banner of the National Federation of Postal Employees and the Federation of National Postal Organisations have expressed concern over moves by the Central government to privatise the postal sector.

In protest against the move, postal employees and their family members are organising a human chain here on April 7.

District convener of the programme R.V. Sreekanth said it was a part of a nation-wide exercise. The human chain, to be held in the evening, will be from the Head Post Office at Chinnakada to the Taluk Office Junction. In a statement Mr. Sreekanth said the Central government had endorsed a report to bifurcate the postal sector into five corporations. These are Postal Bank of India, India Insurance, Company for Distribution of Third Party Products, Company for Management of Government Services, and India Parcels.
