Environmentalists have raised concern over the construction of a resort at the edge of the Dandeli–Anshi Tiger Reserve in Uttara Kannada.
The resort, being built by a Mumbai-based firm, is coming up on 3 acres of land at Anmod village, which abuts Castle Rock range of the tiger reserve. “The area is surrounded by pristine forests, and serves as a link between Dandeli–Anshi Tiger Reserve and Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary.
It is a part of the larger tiger landscape, and construction such as this leads to increase in wildlife conflict,” said Shankar, an environmentalist. Tigers, leopards, elephants, and several other wildlife species had been spotted in the area, he said.
